In what came as a huge shock to almost every Nigerian, the entire 36 State Governors of the federation on Thursday unanimously disclosed their inability to continue to pay the N18,000 minimum wage to workers due to the poor state of the economy.



he Governors in a communique issued after a crucial meeting in the early hours of Thursday at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja under the umbrella of Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, stated that the income for their respective states have reduced drastically now that a barrel of goes for $41 as against $126.


The communique read by the the Chairman of the Forum and governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, said they therefore sought to have audience with President Muhammadu Buhari on the economy, resolving that the only way out of the quagmire was to diversify the economy to agriculture and mining.
