Military Man Knocks Highway Sweeper To Death On Third Mainland Bridge

A highway sweeper working with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority on Wednesday died when a vehicle knocked her off the Third Mainland Bridge to the ground. The accident occurred at about 11 a.m. behind Kam Salem House, the Police Headquarters annex at Obalende.

The driver of the vehicle, a military personnel, was said to be speeding when his tyre burst and the vehicle somersaulted several times.

The victim, according to witnesses was flung into the air and thrown over the bridge to the ground.

The unconscious military personnel was taken to the nearby Military Hospital in Ikoyi in a tricycle, popularly known as “Keke Marwa’’ by his colleagues. The victim, who was identified as Bisi by her colleagues, was said to be a dutiful worker who loved her job with passion in spite of the little salary she earned.
